This book provides analysis of campus planning problems, quantitative approaches to planning based on student populations and qualitative suggestions paired with case studies. Dober's writing provides information regarding the history of the campus planning tradition, the process to develop a master plan, and information for the basic building typologies of the university; these typologies include but are not limited to residence halls and apartments, dining and kitchen facilities, classroom buildings, athletic facilities, and administrative units. These studies were conducted in a different era, but still serve as a good point of reference. There is no significant difference between the 1963 and 1996 additions; formulas and populations to facility ratios remain the same, as do the majority of precedents and imagery.
